Who are we?South Harbour Business Association (SHBA) is an independent, non-political, not for profit organisation, providing its services to members of Mangere’s commercial/industrial business community.
The association works in partnership with the combined business improvement districts of Mangere and Otahuhu, Auckland region BIDs, Auckland Council, the Mangere-Otahuhu Local Board, community groups and liaises closely with Auckland Transport, Police, National Road Carriers, Ara and other organisations to lobby for and bring about improvements in the district. |
Our MissionTo promote and achieve a secure and safe environment for all businesses in the district and encourage business growth in the wider Mangere area.

The Association’s members are mostly businesses located within Mahunga Drive, Hastie Avenue and Rymer Place in the Mangere area of Auckland City.
Currently, businesses operating in this district include importers, wholesalers, builders and joiners, light engineering, carriers, hazardous chemical storage facilities, warehousing, tour companies, manufacturers, food retailers, laboratories, logistics companies, importers and exporters. |

Craig Turner - Board memberCraig is the Director of Forensic Building Consultants, located in Mahunga Drive. Craig has been involved in the New Zealand building industry for over 40 years. His company provides expertise in building surveying, project management, quantity surveying, architectural design and building expert services.

Rev. Les Dixon - Vice-chairman QSM MSt JRev. Les Dixon has lived in Mangere Bridge for 50 years. A retired engineer, Les has been involved in many community organisations including the Scouts.
He is an executive member and broadcaster of low power Community Radio (LPFM) and a member of Mangere Residents and Ratepayers Association, Committee member of the Mangere Bridge Charitable Trust, and also served 3 years as a Community Board member for Manukau City and Mangere Bridge Business Association until retirement. He is a Nominated Person with the Manukau Police to assist with Juvenile offenders. Les is Chaplain for the Order of St John Southern Region and Senior Priest of St James Anglican Church, Mangere Bridge. |
Ken Blakie - TreasurerKen has been the Financial Controller at carrier company Pengellys Ltd. since he joined the company in 1993.
Ken says 'the area is the best kept secret in town ' It has such easy access to the motorway links. Being out of the Airport area where all the other operators are is also an advantage, and all the upgrading happening in the district makes it a very pleasant place to work. Evan Thompson - Board member
Evan is a Director and General Manager of the Otbury Group and has been involved in the automotive refinish industry for the past fifteen years.
Prior to this he held various technical and senior management positions with a multinational both locally and overseas in the Medical equipment industry. Find out more about the Otbury Group here. |
Jennie Cowan - ChairmanJennie Cowan is the Executive Assistant to the Chairman Graeme Clegg at New Image Group and has been with the company for 30 years. She has seen it grow from 5 staff to over 200. Jennie lives at Waihi Beach and works 4 days a week heading to Auckland on Monday morning and home again Thursday day. She has the best of both worlds.

Blake Ireland - Board member
Blake is owner of Star Box Ltd.
Starbox relocated from Onehunga to their newly refurbished premises in Mahunga Drive. Star Box has been the trusted name in wooden packaging of all descriptions for over 70 years. The company specialises in the manufacture of presentation and wine boxes, cases, pallets, frames and cable reels. |
Calvin West - Board member
Calvin is the Director of Kiwi Coaches Ltd. The company has been located in the district over for 10
years and has depots at New Lynn, Takanini and New Plymouth. Kiwi Coaches fleet of buses has grown from 8 to 53 over this time; delivering tour coach services and a large number of school runs. Calvin has a staff of 35, all of whom live locally. |
Tony Rew - Board member
National SHECS Manager at Sims Pacific Metals, Tony has extensive experience in manufacturing, health care, petrochemical, industrial services, waste management, power generation, and aerospace industries in Europe and New Zealand.
